ARLEWOOD - Margaret River, Western Australia
James Halliday 2016 Dark Horse of the year WINNER.
Arlewood Estate (Wilyabrup) was purchased by the Gosatti family in 1999. In 2008, Garry Gosatti purchased the Forest Grove vineyard in the more southern and cooler sub-region of Margaret River, Western Australia which is now the headquarters for Arlewood Estate. The vineyard and cellar door are located on Calgardup Road, Witchcliffe in the premium wine-growing region of Margaret River in Western Australia.
The Cellar Door overlooks the vineyard, olive trees, mature poplar trees and conifers, with natural bushland adding to beauty and ‘sense of place’ that the Forest Grove property exudes.
The 15 year-old vineyards are located in free-draining, lateritic, gravelly soil that is perfect for growing ultra-premium wine grapes. The region has a strong maritime climate with the influence from the Indian and Southern Oceans giving rise to the finest fruit which has optimal flavour and intensity reflective of the unique regionality of southern Margaret River.
Arlewood’s vision is simple - hands on grape growing and winemaking in the purest form.
Arlewood Estate consists of 80 acres of which 20 acres are under vine with plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Semillon.
The wines are made and managed by consultant winemaker, Stuart Pym who joined the team in 2000. Stuart has previously worked at Voyager Estate Chief Winemaker), Devils Lair and most recently Stella Bella. Stuart has a passion for wine production at the southern end of the Margaret River wine region. His own vineyard is just down the road from Arlewood in the Forest Grove precinct.
The Wines produced under the Arlewood and La Bratta labels are Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Semillon, Chardonnay, La Bratta Bianco, Cabernet Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and La Bratta Rosso.
Arlewood Estate has a ★★★★ rating in James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2016.
