Haan Estate - Barossa Valley, South Australia

We believe every meal should be accompanied by a great glass of wine so we hope you enjoy our range of hand selected premium and restaurant quality wines from Australia and Italy.

The Haan vineyards, established in 1996, offer grapes that continually produce wines of high quality, having attracted a 5-star rating from Australia’s foremost wine critic, James Halliday, and producing wines of up to 96 points.

The vineyards and winery are situated on the floor of the Barossa Valley, easily accessible via a sealed main road. It is only around 60 minutes from Adelaide. The grape-growing area of 18.3 hectares is supported by water stored on the property and is used as required during the growing season, which is vital given that Australia has just come out of 10-year drought and water is expensive.

The vineyard is situated 60 metres above sea level and receives about 450 millimetres of rain per annum. The soil is sandy loam with a clay base. These soils have proven to be excellent for producing rich but elegant shiraz and cabernets, varieties that have made the Barossa famous the world over.  The vines range in age from 10 to 60 years.

The Haan Estate also grows some exceptional merlot, together with a small amount of malbec, petit verdot  and viognier. All of these varieties have benefited from the excellent attention to detail of the Vineyard Manager, Robert Seelander.

On the Barossa Valley floor, the vineyard climate is warm to hot and is similar to that of the Rhone region in France, with the average temperature during the ripening season being 24 degrees C.
